Warburton Cycle Fest - May 1 & 2, 2010 - UPDATE INSIDE

A note to fill you in on our great event, Road race, Downhill, Cycle cross where all very well attended, Orienteering had 65 and are coming back to have a major event, not just a novice one, loved Warburton,  Martyr road hill climb was a hoot, spur of the moment thing, Had a crowd of 120  at 5pm.

Colouring comp had over 100 entries with 2 bikes as prizes (top brand Jamis, donated) Bike polo and the Trials guys put on a crowd pulling show, pity the polo guys and the fixes didn't front on Sunday as promised. Our bike chariots stood up well and got a real hiding. Unicycles also turned up on Sunday to treat the crowd at Redwood centre.

Our big mistake was having two venues on Sunday, Primary School didn't work, even with a sign on every power pole people still had trouble finding it, next year will have Road race starting and finishing in Main street (closed) on the Saturday as well as Down Hill, Cross Country and BMX up at my place, Sunday will have Cycle cross, social rides, novelty events, chariots, penny farthings, polo etc at the Football Club oval or Redwoods, will try at get a March or early April date.

The main aim was to promote Warburton as a great cycling place/destination and we achieved that in spades, PS check out our website as pictures are rolling in. Jeff
